Cleveland Hybrid Golf Clubs

This article will discuss the two hybrid golf club product lines offered by Cleveland Golf.
These are called the Hibore and the Halo hybrid golf club lines.

Hibore Hybrids by Cleveland Golf

The most evident feature of Cleveland hybrids is what is called an “inverted crown” design. This means that weight is taken from the top and back of the club and redistributed around the perimeter to lower the center of gravity (CG) and move it back away from the clubface. This makes it easier to get the ball into the air. Such weight redistribution also increases the moment of inertia (MOI), and a higher MOI provides greater resistance to club head twisting on off-center hits, translating into higher ball speed on off-center hits.

The Hibore hybrids are newer than the Halo line. Certain design features were added as a result of inputs from the Cleveland Golf pro tour staff of players. These include a club face that is 10% larger, and a leading edge that has been slightly flattened and rounded off a bit to give a larger hitting area and less tendency for the club to dig into the ground.

6 Hibore Hybrid clubs are offered as 1-6 hybrids, and of course these would replace 1-6 irons in the bag. Lofts range from 16- 31 degrees, and the clubs are available with both steel and graphite shafts. Standard shafts are Dynamic Gold Superlite for steel and Cleveland branded graphite shafts. A number of other shaft options are available on the company web site. Left handed clubs are available in every case. The Cleveland Hybrid Golf Clubs web site states that both the Hibore and Halo versions can be used by golfers of all abilities. 3-6 hybrid clubs are offered for women.

Halo Hybrid Utility Golf Clubs

The predecessor of the Hibore hybrid is the Halo line of clubs which are still on the market and still popular. Once again the “inverted Crown” is evident and weight is redistributed to the perimeter of the club, lowering the CG and increasing MOI, as discussed above. It is claimed that the Halo line produces shots that are 5-10 yards longer than the irons they replace. It is not clear from reading the Cleveland web site exactly how that longer distance is attained. In any case one should be aware that he might find a gap of 5 to 10 yards between his lowest numbered iron and highest numbered hybrid club when using Cleveland hybrid golf clubs. In fact I quizzed an acquaintance who is an excellent golfer and who uses a Cleveland 2H. He says he thinks he hits the hybrid farther, so that is one anecdotal data point supporting the claim.

There are 7 clubs in the Halo line. These include a 1H strong with a 14 degree loft and then 1-6 hybrids with the same lofts as in the Hibore line. As for shafts, once again the choices available are the same as in the Hibore line discussed above. Left handed versions are not available for the 1H and 1H strong but can be ordered in any of the 2-6 hybrids in the Halo line. Once again, 3-6H versions are available for women players.

Putting Basics

There are two components to putting: direction and distance. Many of us have difficulty in lining up a putt to the target. The target is the intended line the ball is to start on, not the hole.

Start with the putter head perpendicular to the target line. A way to help to align the putter properly is to place the ball so that the line of the name of the ball extends to the target. Now there is a reference point to square the putter. The putter face should be perpendicular to the line on the ball. There are a myriad of ways to putt. If you are struggling, try the following for a set-up to help with direction. Make the set-up and stroke simple by setting the feet, knees and shoulders parallel to the target line. There should be a little bend at the hips. Knees should be flexed very slightly but comfortably. Arms should drop relaxed from fairly level shoulders. The grip should be light with the palms of the hands facing each other and the backs of the hands going towards the target and away from the target. The ball should be placed in the center or forward part of stance. Weight distribution is centered where the ball is placed. If the ball is forward just inside the front foot, then the weight should be centered well towards the front foot. My preference is to have the player’s weight slightly onto the front foot (60/40) which would then move the ball slightly forward in the stance. Eyes should be directly over the top of the ball to be able to see the line to the target. Once the set-up is completed, the only concern should be distance.

The least complicated way to achieve the proper distance is to have the fewest number of variables in the stroke. The movement of the putter emanates from the shoulders while maintaining the wishbone set-up relationship of the arms with the putter. The wrists do not move. The motion is similar to young kids doing the elephant walk with their arms as the trunk, letting them go back and forth, to and fro. A big key is to keep arms relaxed. The distance the ball rolls is determined by the length of the stroke, not by hitting it harder. However far the putter goes back, it needs to go past the ball the same distance. If force is added or decreased in the stroke, it is a variable. Rely on the weight of the putter to create the distance. The weight of the putter is constant. Distance is a feel. Take practice strokes to feel distance. If the distance on the practice stroke does not feel correct, take another practice stroke.

To become a better putter, first look at the set-up then work on distance. Spend some time on the putting green and watch your handicap drop.

Getting your eyes over the top of the ball.

If you are playing pool, you would want to look directly down the cue stick to the back of the ball. This allows you to see the line. We want to see the same type of line as we putt. In order to do so, our eyes need to be on the line of the putt. Here are some ways to check your eye position:

Take a range ball and place the ball so the stripes run around the equator of the ball. If your eyes are properly placed in the set-up, you should see the same amount of stripe on the near side of the ball as you do on the far side. Set up to the ball in your putting position. Take a second ball and drop it from the bridge of you nose. If the second ball lands on the ball, you are good to go. If not, make adjustments. Enlist someone to look from the target line extended to see if you are over the top of the ball.

Golf Swing Trainers Help Your Swing

Golf is a sport in which players use different types of clubs and attempt to hit a small white ball into holes on a golf course. A round of golf typically consist of eighteen holes and they are played in the order determined by the layout of the course. There are options to to play nine holes also.

There are many factors that determine a good golf player and there are many options available to turn a player from an amateur into a professional.

Many golfers have opted for the most up to date and sometimes expensive methods to get better such as golf swing trainers or lessons from professionals. Others have decided to pinpoint their weak points and employ simple tactics to improve their game.

Golf swing trainers are used to help a golfer improve his game. They come in different forms and usually range in price. There are several different golf swing trainers available to specifically help each player with their individual problems. Some of the most popular ones are; the Medicus trainer, the angle iron, swing plane, super swing trainers, refiner drive, and the dream swing.

The Medicus trainer is one of the most popular trainer used by golfers. This may be due in part to the many pro golfers who swear by the product. However, it may also be due in large part to its effectiveness in helping players to improve their swing.

There are different variations of the Medicus such as the Medicus dual hinge driver, Medicus hinge combo, Medicus dual hinge 7 and 5 iron and the Medicus pro hinged golf club. The aim of this device is to recognize flaws in the player’s golf swing. Due to the device’s dual hinge mechanism when a flaw in the swing happens the club breaks and the player is unable to hit the ball, thus providing instant feedback.

Another popular device is the super swing trainer, its aim is to improve timing and tempo for a straighter golf shot, it also strengthens the cords needed to build stronger golf muscles. This trainer has been on the market for over fifteen years and claims to cut handicaps in half in a matter of 21 days. It helps golfers on how to practically apply the swing plane principle.

The dream swing allows for mind and body coordination in playing the game, it is a device that works similar to a compass as it forces a pencil to travel in the perfect circle. Because the dream swing forces the player to swing on plane your mind and body coordination will become programmed with the feeling of a better swing. The dream swing is scientifically formulated for maximum protection of the body and ergonomically designed for body protection.

Because this swing aid keeps the body vertically aligned it eliminates, dipping, sliding, rendering and pivoting. The dream swing offers the player a perfect transition from the top of the back swing to impact. If you perform a bad motion with this mechanism it will guide your club into the ground, similar in the way the Medicus does it, as it offers immediate feedback.

Tips To Travel With Your Golf Clubs Easily

Golf clubs can be expensive, but aside from the cost – you play your best game when using your own set of clubs. When traveling with your golf clubs, you will want to protect them from banging around against other luggage or from rough handling.

Your golf clubs are an investment and you want them safe from damage when traveling!

Here are some tips when traveling with golf clubs:

Protect your clubs by first packing them in a golf travel bag or case. There are plenty of options and many price ranges, so you are sure to find the travel case that is right for you.

There are two types of golf travel cases: soft shell and hard shell. For traveling by air, the hard shell golf case is most recommended. Many airlines will cover damages if your clubs are first packed inside a golf travel hard case (please confirm with your airline first).

Hard shell cases can protect against very demanding environments. Most are made of heavy molded plastic that help protect your clubs against hard drops, throws or harsh banging. The hard travel golf case may cost more than the soft shell choices, however the investment is offset by the level of protection provided to your clubs. If you prefer a hard case that will fit your golf bag inside as well, make sure to read the golf travel case descriptions before making your choice. Not all hard cases are built to fit your golf bag inside.

Golf soft shell travel cases can be a good option provided you pack your clubs well. The level of protection is not as great as the hard shell types, but by packing your clubs carefully and with a few precautions, you can do well with this choice if you plan on traveling by car and handling your own luggage. Also, most soft shell bags do fit your golf bag inside nicely.

To get the most protection for your golf clubs when using a soft shell case, be sure to pack the clubs inside carefully. First keep the clubs in your golf bag, cover the club heads with the golf bag cover (if your bag has one) or wrapped and buffered by some other material (towels or clothing work well) so that the club heads do not bang around loose or against each other inside the travel case.

By taking care to pack your golf clubs in a travel case that can offer protection from the elements and rough handling that can occur during travel, you will be on the right track to keeping your clubs safe from damage and enjoying them while traveling on holiday or golf tour.
